Solar PV Installer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Solar PV Engineer to install, commission, service, and maintain Solar PV systems across residential and small commercial sites in NE England. The successful candidate will be technically competent, safety-focused, and comfortable working independently in the field.
Qualified and experienced in Clenergy, Renusol & GSE mounting systems, our Electricians install, repair, maintain, and commission traditional and renewable energy systems within domestic properties. This includes solar PV systems, battery storage, EV charge points, and associated electrical upgrades.
You will play a key role in helping households reduce energy costs and carbon emissions, delivering safe, compliant, high‑quality installations as part of a growing renewables team.
Daily Responsibility
Install Solar PV systems including roof-mounted and ground-mounted arrays
Carry out commissioning, testing, and system handovers
Diagnose and repair faults on existing PV systems
Perform planned and reactive maintenance visits
Ensure all work complies with current regulations (BS 7671, MCS, DNO requirements, Part P)
Complete electrical and installation documentation accurately
Liaise professionally with customers, site managers, and internal teams
Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle to a high standard
Adhere to all health & safety procedures at all times
Other Duties
Clearly explain system operation, safety features, and handover documentation to homeowners.
Represent the company professionally, maintaining trust and a positive customer experience.
Work closely with roofers, renewable installers, designers, and project coordinators.
Provide feedback on designs and installation methods to support continuous improvement.
Support training of apprentices or junior engineers where required.

MCS Solar PV Installation Certification
NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation
AM2
C&G2391 Inspection & Testing
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Proven experience installing and maintaining Solar PV systems
Experience working on residential and/or small commercial projects
Strong understanding of solar PV, inverters, and battery storage wiring.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Strong electrical knowledge and fault-finding ability
Good customer-facing communication skills
Passion for renewable energy and sustainable technologies
Desirable
Experience with battery storage systems
Retrofit experience (ECO, SHDF, PAS 2030/2035 environments).
